The person who surveys your loft is the person who fits it, and the person who answers the phone if you ever need us back. - Home/ - About ## Who we help, and what we do We help Shropshire homeowners get usable, safe storage out of a roof space that is currently a dark, awkward gap above the landing. Most of our customers are families running out of room: a new baby, a home office where the spare room used to be, or boxes stacked in a garage that should hold a car. We turn that wasted space into a boarded floor you can walk on, reach by ladder and light at the flick of a switch. We specialise in domestic loft storage rather than full loft conversions: raised loft boarding, loft ladders, hatches, insulation top-ups, lighting and electrics and the tidying-up jobs around them. Doing one thing properly is why we can stand behind our work for 10 years. I started my career working for the UK's largest loft boarding company, where I quickly developed a passion for creating practical, high-quality loft storage solutions. Within just 12 months I became their top fitter, and went on to spend three years building my experience and perfecting my craft. I then spent five years self-employed, subcontracting for another established loft company and gaining even more experience working in customers' homes. Now I've taken the next step and built The Little Loft Company, giving me the freedom to be fully in control of every job, from the initial quote through to the finished installation. That is 8 years of climbing into other people's roof spaces, which means very little surprises us: trussed rafters in a 1970s Telford estate house, a cramped Victorian hatch in Shrewsbury, a stone-built cottage in Much Wenlock. ## Where we work We are based in Telford and work across the county: Telford, Shrewsbury, Newport, Wellington, Oakengates, Shifnal and the rest of Shropshire. Because we are local, a survey is usually a short drive rather than a scheduling exercise, and coming back to adjust a ladder or check something is never a problem. The difference between a loft that works and a loft that causes problems is what happens underneath the boards, how the access is set up, and whether the person fitting it cared. These are the standards we hold ourselves to on every job. ### Raised boarding, never crushed insulation We fit the LoftLeg system in 175mm or 300mm heights so boards sit above the joists. Your insulation keeps its full depth and the roof space stays ventilated: the opposite of what happens when chipboard is screwed straight onto the joists. ### In-person surveys, fixed written prices We do not quote from photographs. We come out, measure, check the joists, the hatch opening and the insulation, and give you one written figure. That figure is what you pay. ### Qualified electrician on the electrics Lights, switches and sockets are installed by a fully qualified electrician, not bodged in by a boarder with a roll of cable. ### Honest advice, including when to say no If your joists will not take the load you want, or the roof structure limits what is possible, we will tell you at survey rather than take a deposit and find out later. ### Clean handover Offcuts, packaging and dust sheets go with us.
